Function of various part of Central Nervous System
Central Nervous System:
The CNS is not only concerned with the regulation of specialized functions like circulation, digestion and respiration but is also modifies the psychic process such as feeling, attitude, thoughts and memory. The ability to think logically, to learn from past experience and to communicate appropriately are the unique qualities of man and can be attributed to the development of the highly specialized CNS. The major division of CNS include cerebellum, the brain stem and the spinal code. It contain billions of neuron to form complex network.
Parts of CNS and Their Function:
Central Cortex:
Higher function like judgement, memory, fine voluntary moment, fine pain, tactile discrimination and temperature, special sense like vision, smell and hearing. It also acts as an important coordinator and exerts inhibitory control over lower centers.
Frontal Lobe:
The Frontal Lobe is involved in Thinking, integration of emotional behavior. These is involved in making complex thinking. These lob also controls the emotional behavior of the person.
Limbic System:
Basal Ganglia:
Thalamus:
The thalamus part of the brain relay center fir sensory pathways to cortex. Conscious appreciation of pain, temperature and crude touch sensation. exerts regulatory control over visceral functions.Hypothalamus:
As above image of thalamus shows the location of the hypothalamus. The Hypothalamus is the control of the autonomic nervous system, control of adenohypophysis. Important center for integration of eating, drinking, sexual behavior, temperature regulation, sleep, circadian rhythms and other vegetative functions.
Cerebellum:
Recticular Formation:
The Recticular Formtion system controls wakefulness cycle. control of blood pressure, respiration, swallowing, vomiting , transition of crude pain, voluntary muscle tone and posture. Control upper motor neuron.
