Lung cancer is most commonly found in the men's. The Lung cancer is the leading cause of mortality in both men and women.
Non-Small Cell Lung Cancer:
Non-small Cell Lung Cancer comprises of 80% of total lung cancer these are generally associated with poor prognosis and limited treatment option beyond platinum chemotherapy.
The major morphological sub type in non-small cell lung cancer is:
- Squamous cells: 25-31%
- Non-squamous cells: 37-50%
- Other Non-squamous: 19-25%
The survival rate of non-small cell lung cancer is much low as compared to adrenocarcinoma.
Small Cell Lung Cancer:
The small cell lung cancer is classified as a high grade pulmonary neuroendocrine tumor. It is among 20% of the tumor classified in neuroendocrine tumor.
Currently AsteraZeneca focusing on lung cancer targeting and development of targeting the genetic drivers and resistance mechanism of cancer.
