Pharmcology Introduction

 



 Pharmacology is the science that deals with the drugs. The word Pharmacology is derived from Greek words pharmacon: an active principle and logos: a discourse. The worlds best known pharmacological or therapeutic writing comes from India and China. The earliest literature composing these therapeutics are known as Vedas in India. 

Modern medicine is considered to date from Hippocrates, a Greek physician, who first introduced diseases as a pathological process and tried to organise the science the science of medicine on the bases of observation , analysis and deduction. 

Till the beginning of the 19th century, the treatment of diseases included such obnoxious remedies as flesh, excreta and blood of various animals along with few metal and plant preparation. 

pharmacology consist of detailed study of drugs, particularly their actions on living animals, organs or tissues. The action may be benefited or harmful. it include following topics such as Pharmacognocy, Pharmacy, Pharmacodynamisc and Pharmacokinetics.
